Smyth looks to keep Avalanche rolling

DALLAS (Ticker) - It appears that the addition of Ryan Smyth has really helped the Colorado Avalanche this season.

Smyth will try keep the red-hot Avalanche rolling when they visit the Dallas Stars on Friday.

Colorado's prize offseason acquisition, Smyth has tallied six goals and 13 points and helped propel the club to the top of the Northwest Division.

The Avalanche's biggest surprise has been the production of second-year center Paul Stastny, who leads the team with nine tallies and 22 points. Colorado, which has been off the last four days, has won six of its previous eight contests.

The Stars are looking to snap a three-game skid. They have lost back-to-back, one-goal games to the Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks on Saturday and Wednesday, respectively.

Dallas has been led by Mike Robeiro, who has seven goals and 17 points this season. His plus-seven is also tied with Brenden Morrow for the team lead.

Marty Turco, who has been in goal the last five contests - including the three straight defeats, may get the night off. He surrendered two goals - to the first two shooters - in the bonus frame during Wednesday's loss to the Sharks.
