Flames recall G McElhinney, assign G Keetley

Nov 19, 2007 - 11:27 PM CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) -- The Calgary Flames switched backup goaltenders Monday, recalling Curtis McElhinney from Quad City and assigning Matt Keetley to their American Hockey League affiliate.

McElhinney made his NHL debut against San Jose on October 22, allowing one goal on two shots in relief of starter Miikka Kiprusoff, before being assigned to Quad City the following day. With the AHL club, the 24-year-old sixth-round pick in 2002 went 4-6-1 with one shutout and a 2.18 goals-against average.

Keetley, 21, also made his first career appearance in the NHL in relief of Kiprusoff this season, stopping both shots he faced on November 5 against Colorado. A fifth-round selection in the 2005 draft, the Alberta native went 1-1-1 with a 2.28 GAA in three games with Quad City earlier this campaign.
