Blue Jackets look to end slide against Panthers

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) - The Columbus Blue Jackets try to snap a two-game losing streak when they host the Florida Panthers on Wednesday.

The Blue Jackets pushed the top team in the Western Conference to the brink on Sunday before losing, 5-4, in a shootout to the Detroit Red Wings. Columbus capitalized on the power play, scoring three of its four tallies with a man advantage during the setback.

Columbus appears to be turning things around on a power play unit that ranks 20th in the NHL, scoring on just 15.5 percent of man-advantage opportunities. Despite the low percentage, the Blue Jackets rank fifth in the league with 103 power plays this season.

The Panthers, meanwhile, are looking to build on the momentum of a 4-3 victory over the Washington Capitals on Monday. Olli Jokinen scored two goals in the win and continues to lead Florida's offense.

Jokinen has a team-high 11 goals and 23 points this season while ranking second on the Panthers with 12 assists. The 28-year-old center scored a career-high 91 points last season after logging 89 during the 2005-06 campaign. Jokinen, the team captain, has appeared in all 82 games for Florida in each of the last three seasons.
