Sabres face Senators searching for another win

BUFFALO, New York (Ticker) - After ending a three-game losing streak, the last thing the Buffalo Sabres wanted to do was face the best team in the NHL.

However, that is exactly what Buffalo is faced with on Wednesday when they host the Eastern Conference-leading Ottawa Senators.

The Sabres got back on track Friday with a 4-1 rout of the Montreal Canadiens. Clarke MacArthur scored twice for Buffalo, which snapped a three-game slide.

MacArthur, who recorded his first career two-goal game against the Canadiens, has three goals this season as the Sabres scored four goals for the first time since October 26.

The Sabres could receive an offensive boost on Wednesday from Tim Connolly, who may return from a nagging abdominal strain which has kept him sidelined for five games.

"It's getting better day by day," Connolly said. "It's still a little bit there, but it's at a point when it's not too hampering. I can pretty much do everything out there, so it's definitely moving in the right direction."

Connolly is tied for second on the team with 12 points - one goal and 11 assists - in 13 games this season.

The Senators skated away with a 4-2 victory over the Canadiens on Monday to avoid their first losing streak of the season. Ottawa has put together winning streaks of five and eight games this season but have dropped two of their last five contests.
