Legace faces former club as Blues battle Red Wings

DETROIT (Ticker) - Manny Legace will look to shut down his former team when the St. Louis Blues visit the division-leading Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday in a matchup of Central Division rivals.

Legace, who spent six seasons in Detroit, led St. Louis to its fourth consecutive victory on Monday, making 27 saves in a 2-1 triumph over the Nashville Predators.

In that game, Legace came just 63 seconds away from his first shutout of the season and 19th in his career. He has not had a shutout since blanking the Predators last season on February 16.

The Blues netminder will have a tough task in front of him, having to slow down one of the NHL's best offenses.

Henrik Zetterberg is off to an outstanding start, notching 14 goals and 30 points this season. The Swedish left wing has registered a point in 19 of his 20 games.

On the other side of the rink, the Blues have been led by their top line of Paul Kariya, Keith Tkachuk and Brad Boyes. Kariya, who was St. Louis' key offseason acquisition, leads the club with 15 assists and 20 points this season.

Boyes has been a pleasant surprise, tallying a team-leading 12 goals, while Tkachuk has managed six tallies and 10 assists.
