Blackhawks' road trip continues at Calgary

CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) -- Scoring goals might have been a problem for the Chicago Blackhawks in recent years, but that hasn't been the case so far this season.

Chicago looks to continue its strong offensive play on Thursday when it meets the Calgary Flames for the first time this season. The teams have split four meetings in each of the last three seasons.

The Blackhawks finished next-to-last in the league last season with 2.38 goals per game, but are in the top 10 this year with 3.05 goals a contest.

Patrick Sharp, Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Jason Williams have combined for 32 goals and 72 points. The Blackhawks have scored five or more goals in five of their 20 games after accomplishing the feat seven times all of last season.

Chicago did it again on Sunday, improving to 4-0-0 against Central Division-leading Detroit with a 5-3 victory in the third game of a six-game road trip.

Sharp leads Chicago with 10 goals, scoring four in the last two games. He failed to score in four games against Calgary last season and has just two assists in seven appearances against the Flames.

Calgary won for the third time in four games on Tuesday, 4-1 at home over Colorado. The Flames improved to 6-5-2 at the Pengrowth Saddledome after finishing a league-best 30-9-2 at home last season.
