Avalanche look to continue solid play at home

Nov 24, 2007 - 2:42 PM Calgary (9-10-3) at Colorado (12-8-1) 7:00 pm EST

DENVER (Ticker) - The Colorado Avalanche have not been getting much production from leading scorer Paul Stastny, but it hasn't affected their play at home.

Stastny and the Avalanche aim for their 10th win in the last 11 games here when they host the Calgary Flames on Saturday.

Colorado, which owns the league's best home mark at 9-1-0, is glad to be home after going winless on a four-game road trip and losing seven of nine on the road before a 3-2 win in Edmonton on Thursday.

The main reason the Avalanche haven't had much success on the road is their inability to score goals. Before the Edmonton game, Colorado had just 17 goals in 10 games away from home, and hadn't scored more than once in a road game since a 3-2 win at Calgary on October 26.

The Flames lost their most recent game, 2-1 at home to Chicago on Thursday, after winning three of their previous four games.

After giving up just one short-handed goal in its first 21 games, Calgary let the Blackhawks score both of its goals while down a man. Patrick Sharp got the game-winner at the beginning of the third, and the Flames couldn't score on Nikolai Khabibulin despite outshooting Chicago, 15-2, in the period.

Jarome Iginla scored Calgary's lone goal, his 13th of the season, on the power play in the second period. Iginla's 15 assists and 28 points rank him among the top 10 in the NHL.

The Avalanche had won seven of the last eight meetings with Calgary before losing on Tuesday. The Flames have dropped their last five games in Colorado.
