Senators face Flyers looking to snap rare losing streak

Nov 24, 2007 - 3:19 PM Philadelphia (12-7-2) at Ottawa (16-4-1) 7:30 pm EST

OTTAWA (Ticker) - The Ottawa Senators are not used to losing streaks, even minor ones. The team looks to break out of a mini-slump on Saturday when they host the vastly improved Philadelphia Flyers.

Ottawa, currently on its first two-game losing streak of the season, is 3-3-1 in its last seven games and might be without the services of captain Daniel Alfredsson, who pulled a groin muscle during Thursday's shootout loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The injuries are slowly mounting for Ottawa - center Randy Robitaille has missed the last two games for the Senators with a bruised left hand and forward Patrick Eaves is out indefinitely with a separated right shoulder.

Ottawa's Martin Gerber allowed his season high for goals on Thursday, but is 4-1-1 with a 1.96 goals-against average against Philadelphia. The Senators, who haven't lost three consecutive games since March 2-6, look for their fifth consecutive win over Philadelphia after winning all four games last season.

Philadelphia is coming off a 4-3 overtime loss on Friday to Washington at home in the first game for interim Capitals' head coach Bruce Boudreau. Nicklas Backstrom, who also had two assists, slipped a loose puck past Philadelphia goaltender Marty Biron at 1:55 of the extra period to end the Capitals' five-game losing streak.
