Flyers look to remain hot at home against Bruins
Nov 26, 2007 - 2:55 PM Boston (11-8-2) at Philadelphia (13-7-2) 7:00 pm ESTPHILADELPHIA (Ticker) - The Philadelphia Flyers have been difficult to beat at home so far this season, posting a 6-1-2 record through nine games.
Tied atop the Atlantic Division with the New York Rangers, the Flyers host the Boston Bruins on Monday. Philadelphia reached the 28-point mark with a 4-3 victory at Ottawa on Saturday as Daniel Briere continued his solid season with a goal and two assists.
R.J. Umberger, Scott Hartnell and Mike Richards also scored for the Flyers, while goaltender Antero Niittymaki stopped 29 shots.
Briere continues to lead Philadelphia in scoring with 12 goals and 28 points, two more than Richards.
Boston, which is 7-2-1 at home but only 4-6-1 on the road, is coming off a 2-1 road loss on Saturday against the New York Islanders. That gave the Bruins a split of the home-and-home series with the Islanders. It was the first game of a six-game road trip for Boston, which had won four of five games, and also marked the NHL debut for center Vladimir Sobotka.
Center Marc Savard leads the Bruins in scoring with 23 points. Left wing Marco Sturm and right wing Chuck Kobasew each have nine goals for Boston. The status of left wing Milan Lucic, who suffered a head injury in the Bruins' 2-1 victory over New York on Friday, uncertain for today's game after Lucic was not with the team for practice on Sunday.
The teams have played once this season, with Philadelphia securing a 2-1 victory on October 27 behind 38 saves from goaltender Martin Biron.
