Capitals look for better result against Sabres

WASHINGTON (Ticker) - The Washington Capitals can only hope their next game against the Buffalo Sabres on Monday will be better than the last one.

When the teams played October 13, the Capitals allowed 53 shots in a 7-3 loss. In that game, Jaroslav Spacek and Derek Roy each had two goals and Brian Campbell had four assists for the Sabres.

The Capitals are now 2-0-0 under interim coach Bruce Boudreau after Saturday's 5-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. Michael Nylander had a goal and two assists, while Alex Ovechkin scored twice scored twice for Washington.

The Capitals will look to match their longest winning streak of the season, while Buffalo has won four straight. Boudreau took over for Glen Hanlon, who was fired on Thursday.

Washington is 1-5 in its last six home games against the Sabres. The Capitals have a league-low 17 points and are tied with Toronto for fewest wins.

Buffalo extended its winning streak on Saturday and completed a home-and-home sweep of the Montreal Canadiens with a 3-0 victory.
