Jokinen, Panthers go for fourth straight win

WASHINGTON (Ticker) - The surging Florida Panthers will look to continue their dominance of the league's worst team on Wednesday when they visit the Washington Capitals.

Florida has beaten its Southeast Division rival in six of seven meetings, including two victories this season. In their most recent matchup, Olli Jokinen scored a pair of goals to lead the Panthers to a 4-3 triumph on November 18.

Jokinen, whose shootout tally lifted Florida to a 3-2 victory over the New York Rangers on Friday, leads the Panthers with 11 goals and 24 points.

The Capitals will try to bounce back from their first loss since Bruce Boudreau took over as interim coach last week. Washington defeated the Philadelphia Flyers and Carolina Hurricanes in Boudreau's first two games, but suffered a 3-1 setback to the Buffalo Sabres on Monday.

Alex Ovechkin, who is currently on a nine-game point streak, has been the Capitals' best offensive weapon with 17 of the club's 57 goals. He has three goals over the past two games for Washington, which has the worst record in the NHL.
