Flyers look to regain top spot in Atlantic

RALEIGH, North Carolina (Ticker) - The Philadelphia Flyers have a chance to take over sole possession of first place in the Atlantic Division when they visit the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday.

Philadelphia is currently tied atop of the division standings with the with New York Rangers (13-9-2), who are idle Wednesday.

The Flyers, who have lost four of their last six games, will be without Scott Hartnell. The left wing was suspended two games on Tuesday for a questionable check on Boston's Andrew Alberts during a 6-3 loss Monday. The hit left Alberts day-to-day with a non-concussive head injury.

Hartnell is the fourth Philadelphia player this season to get suspended for an on-ice incident, joining Steve Downie, Jesse Boulerice and Randy Jones.

While the Flyers remain in a battle for the division lead, the Hurricanes own a relatively comfortable six-point lead in the Southeast Division. That lead could be even more if Carolina had not lost four of its last six contests.

Cory Stillman leads the club with 29 points, while Eric Staal has a team-leading 14 tallies for a Hurricanes team that leads the league with 80 goals. Eight different Hurricanes players have 15 points or more.
