Panthers look to extend streak against Bruins

SUNRISE, Florida (Ticker) - The suddenly-hot Florida Panthers look to extend their season-high winning streak to five games on Thursday against the Boston Bruins.

Florida reached the .500 mark for the second time this season after a 2-1 shootout victory over Washington on Wednesday. Tomas Vokoun stopped 32 shots in regulation as the Panthers needed 11 rounds to gain the victory.

Stephen Weiss beat Capitals' goalie Olaf Kolzig in the 11th round of the shootout before Vokoun stopped defenseman Brian Pothier to end the game.

Florida is now 3-0 in shootouts this season and is four points behind Southeast Division-leading Carolina.

Boston comes in having won five of its last seven games, including a 6-3 victory at Philadelphia on Monday. The Bruins are 5-6-1 on the road.

Thursday's game is the first of four meetings between the teams. Boston has lost six consecutive games against the Panthers, including all four last season.
