Brodeur, Devils go for sixth straight win vs. Canadiens

NEWARK, New Jersey (Ticker) - Martin Brodeur is starting to heat up and if the rest of the NHL isn't nervous, they should be.

Brodeur will look to lead the New Jersey Devils to their sixth straight victory when they host the Montreal Canadiens on Friday.

Since registering his 500th career victory on November 17 against the Philadelphia Flyers, Brodeur has looked almost unbeatable. The three-time Vezina Trophy winner has surrendered just seven goals over his current five-game winning streak.

Brodeur, a three-time Stanley Cup champion, has 33 of his 504 career wins against Montreal, posting a 1.74 goals-against average and .933 save percentage against the Eastern Conference foe.

With Brodeur spending his entire career with Devils, the Canadiens hope rookie Carey Price's career follows a similar path. The 20-year-old Price is off to an impressive start, going 6-2-1 with a 2.71 GAA and .916 save percentage this season.

Price, who has won four of his previous five starts, may unseat Cristobal Huet as the team's starting goaltender by the end of the season.

Montreal, which is starting to gain ground on the first-place Ottawa Senators in the Northeast Division, owes much of its success to the resurgence of Alexei Kovalev. The Russian right wing leads the club with 12 goals and 21 points this season.
