Rested Penguins ready to host Stars

PITTSBURGH (Ticker) - After being considered one of the favorites in the Eastern Conference, the Pittsburgh Penguins have spent the majority of the first two months of the season in the cellar of the Atlantic Division.

The Penguins hope to capitalize on their five-day break and win their third straight game when they host the Dallas Stars on Friday.

Pittsburgh is coming off its best outing of the season, trouncing the Atlanta Thrashers, 5-0, on Saturday. Marc-Andre Fleury made 28 saves to register his second shutout of the season and ninth career in that contest.

Fleury is 6-8-1 with a 3.23 goals-against average and .898 save percentage this season.

Reigning Hart Trophy recipient, Sidney Crosby leads the Penguins with 12 goals and 33 points and has tallied at least one point in 21 of the club's 23 games.

The Stars were on a roll before running into Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday. Despite holding a two-goal advantage after the first period, Dallas suffered a 4-2 loss to the Devils, ending a six-game winning streak.

Niklas Hagman has a team-leading 10 goals with four assists this season for Dallas.
