Boyes, Blues look to build off comeback win vs. Wild
Nov 30, 2007 - 2:30 PM St Louis (14-8-0) at Minnesota (13-9-2) 8:00 pm ESTST. PAUL, Minnesota (Ticker) - Brad Boyes and his teammates in St. Louis have not been singing the Blues this season.
Boyes looks to help the St. Louis Blues build off a dramatic comeback victory and pick up their fourth consecutive win when they visit the Minnesota Wild on Friday.
After overcoming an early 2-0 deficit, Boyes scored the game-winning goal with under a minute left as the Blues edged the Buffalo Sabres, 4-3, on Wednesday. It was Boyes' team-leading 14th tally of the season.
With the score knotted at 3-3, Boyes tried to score during a scrum in front of the net. After being denied, he skated behind the net and came around the right goalpost before knocking a loose puck past sprawled goaltender Ryan Miller with just 58 seconds remaining.
St. Louis has won seven of its previous eight contests and climbed into a second-place tie with the Chicago Blackhawks (13-9-2) in the Central Division.
The Wild will go for their third consecutive win Friday. Even though Pavel Demitra did not register a point, Minnesota seemed energized by the return of the Czechoslovakian center, posting a 3-1 triumph over the Phoenix Coyotes on Wednesday.
Demitra, who had missed 11 of 13 games with a groin injury, has four goals and 10 points in 11 games this season and the club is 9-1-1 with him in the lineup.
Marian Gaborik, who - like Demitra - has suffered from a strain groin this season, has four goals over the last four games.
