Lightning look to end six-game losing streak
Dec 1, 2007 - 2:59 PM Boston (13-8-2) at Tampa Bay (10-13-2) 7:30 pm ESTTAMPA, Florida (Ticker) - The Tampa Bay Lightning are in desperate need of a victory. The problem on Saturday - the Lightning face a Boston Bruins team on a roll.
The Bruins are 6-2 in their last eight games and have pulled within six points of Northeast Division-leading Ottawa. Tampa Bay is currently on its second six-game losing streak of the season.
A loss on Saturday would give the Lightning their worst losing streak since dropping eight in a row from January 12-25, 2001. Adding to the problem is that Tampa Bay has defeated Boston only once in the last 10 meetings.
The Bruins have won five straight in the series, including a 4-1 home victory on October 18, and four in a row at Tampa since December 27, 2003.
The Lightning have dropped two straight at home, scoring a total of three goals. Tampa Bay started the season 8-1-1 in its first 10 home games.
The Lightning's Vincent Lecavalier, who has a leading-leading 38 points on 16 goals and 22 assists, has 14 goals and 22 assists in 33 games against Boston, but has only scored once in the last six meetings.
Boston's Marc Savard is on an eight-game point streak with two goals and 13 assists. Savard, who leads the Bruins with five goals and 24 assists for 29 points, has two goals and eight assists in his last four games against Tampa Bay.
