Canadiens look to settle score against Senators

MONTREAL (Ticker) -- The Montreal Canadiens can improve their chances of winning by staying out of shootouts.

Montreal looks to avenge one of its shootout defeats this season and win for the third time in five contests Tuesday when it hosts the Ottawa Senators in their second meeting of the campaign.

Despite suffering just two regulation losses in 10 contests, the Canadiens have dropped all three shootouts this season, including a 3-2 defeat against the Senators on October 14.

Sergei Samsonov scored twice and Sheldon Souray netted his sixth goal to tie Chris Higgins for the team lead as Montreal rallied from a two-goal deficit before losing, 5-4, in Saturday's shootout against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Alexander Perezhogin added his first goal of the season for the Canadiens, who were outshot, 51-22, against Toronto.

Ottawa opened the campaign by scoring just 11 goals in six contests after collecting 314 last season. The Senators followed by netting 21 in a three-game winning streak before Saturday's 2-1 defeat to the Boston Bruins. Dany Heatley scored his seventh goal in the second period.

One of the bright spots for the Senators has been the play of goaltender Ray Emery, who is 3-1-0 with a 1.60 goals-against average, including the victory over Montreal earlier this season.
