Red-hot Devils host Bruins

NEWARK, New Jersey (Ticker) - With Martin Brodeur back in form, the New Jersey Devils have been unbeatable.

The Devils seek their eighth consecutive win on Wednesday when the host the Boston Bruins.

Playing in every game during New Jersey's winning streak, Brodeur has posted a pair of shutouts and has not allowing more than two goals in any contest. The run of success comes after the 35-year-old began the year with a disappointing 5-10-1 mark.

The team's surge to the 30-point mark has them tied with Philadelphia for second in Atlantic Division and just two points back of the first-place New York Rangers.

The Devils power play unit also has found its rhythm during the win streak, converting 23 percent (7-for-31) of their opportunities. Zach Parise and Brian Gionta have notched six of those tallies and have combined to score 10 of the team's 18 power-play goals this season.

Overall, the Devils have outscored opponents 25-9 during the win streak.

New Jersey, which is 10-0-0 this season when leading after two periods, needs four wins to match the franchise record of 11 straight victories - a mark set in 2005-06.

The Bruins also have been playing well as of late, winning seven of their last 10 games. Boston center Marc Savard has tallied at least one point in 10 straight games and has two goals and 16 assists in that span.

Chuck Kobasew continues to enjoy a breakout season for Boston with a team-leading 11 goals and a plus-10 rating.
