Sharks looking to continue impressive play on the road

DALLAS (Ticker) - The San Jose Sharks look to continue their road success when they play the club they are chasing.

Evgeni Nabokov and the Sharks visit the Dallas Stars on Wednesday in a battle of the top two teams in the Pacific Division.

San Jose has an NHL-best 9-3-2 on the road this season and their 30 points overall is four shy of the Stars.

If the Sharks want to close that gap, they will need a good performance from their netminder. Nabokov, who has been in goal for all nine road victories, has posted a 2.01 goals-against average and .916 save percentage with three shutouts this season.

Nabokov made 33 saves and Joe Thornton had two assists in Monday's 3-2 triumph at Colorado.

The Stars are kicking off a four-game home stand after playing their last six contests away from the American Airlines Center. Dallas is looking for its third straight victory and has won eight of its previous 10 games.

Defenseman Sergei Zubov leads the Stars with 20 assists, but he has not had much success against the Sharks in three contests this season, notching just one point. Zubov has nine goals and 37 points in 63 career games games against the division foe.

San Jose has won two of the first three meetings between the two clubs this season.
