Crosby visits Edmonton for first time in his career

EDMONTON, Alberta (Ticker) - The fans in Edmonton have seen plenty of superstars through the years, but they have yet to see Sidney Crosby in action.

That changes Wednesday as Crosby leads the Pittsburgh Penguins into Rexall Place for a game against the Oilers.

It will mark the 20-year-old's first career visit here - the place that Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky called home for the first 10 years of his career.

The reigning Hart Trophy recipient, Crosby has tallied a team-high 14 goals and 37 assists this season. The third-year veteran, who is the youngest captain in the NHL, has notched a point in all but two games.

The Penguins have won four of their previous five contests, tallying 19 goals over that span. Pittsburgh is at the bottom of the Atlantic Division standings with 26 points, but only six points separates the team from the first-place New York Rangers

The Oilers are also streaking, winning three straight and five of their last six games.

Edmonton has received a solid contribution from a pair of rookies - Andrew Cogliano and Sam Gagner have combined for eight goals and 27 points this season.

Cogliano, who has six tallies and 10 assists, is tied for third among first-year players in scoring, trailing only Chicago's tandem of Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews.
