Kings look to build off impressive win

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) - The Los Angeles Kings have not had much to be proud of this season, but they looked very good Thursday.

Trying to build off their most impressive win of the season, the Kings host the Phoenix Coyotes on Saturday in a clash of the two worst teams in the Western Conference.

Dustin Brown and defenseman Tom Preissing each had two goals and an assist as Los Angeles netted the game's first seven goals and cruised to an 8-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday. Goaltender Jonathan Quick picked up the win in his NHL debut.

The win came one day after a 4-1 loss in Phoenix, where rookie Peter Mueller had a goal and two assists for the Coyotes.

Phoenix followed up that win with a 1-0 loss to the San Jose Sharks on Friday. It was the fourth time they have been blanked this season.
