Sharks looking to continue winning ways vs. Canucks

SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) -- The San Jose Sharks look to continue their strong play on Thursday when they host the Vancouver Canucks.

Steve Bernier scored two goals Tuesday as the Sharks won for the fifth time in six games, posting a 4-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild.

San Jose goaltender Evgeni Nabokov made 36 saves, including 17 in the third period.

Nabokov has been one of the NHL's best goalies this season and leads the league with 16 wins while starting all 29 of San Jose's game. The 32-year-old netminder also is third in the NHL with a 2.00 goals-against average and four shutouts.

Mason Raymond and Jason Jaffray each scored their first career goal as the Canucks ended a two-game losing streak with a 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday.

San Jose has won both meetings with the Canucks this season, including a 4-2 victory at Vancouver on October 15.

Joe Thornton has two goals and two assists in the two games vs. Vancouver this season and has been brilliant in his last 16 games against the Canucks, collecting six tallies and 18 assists.
