Vokoun, struggling Panthers visit Blues
Dec 13, 2007 - 2:44 PM Florida (13-15-2) at St Louis (16-10-2) 8:30 pm ESTST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- Tomas Vokoun and the struggling Florida Panthers will have to win at an unfriendly venue if they want to begin recovering from a rough stretch.
Vokoun and the struggling Panthers look bounce back from a heartbreaking loss Thursday when they visit the surprising St. Louis Blues.
On the verge of their second straight win, the Panthers dropped a 2-1 decision at home Tuesday to the Calgary Flames.
Bidding for his second consecutive shutout, Vokoun yielded the game-tying goal to Jarome Iginla with just 11 seconds left in regulation.
It was the fourth loss in the last five games for the Panthers, who have managed just 12 goals over that stretch.
Florida could be hard-pressed to bounce back against St. Louis, which has not lost here to the Panthers since November 1996 - a stretch of seven games.
The Blues have won six of their last seven home meetings with the Panthers, with the other game ending in a scoreless tie.
Playing in his first year with the Panthers, Vokoun has been sharp against the Blues throughout his career and has won six of his last seven contests vs. St. Louis, posting a 1.17 GAA during that span.
The Blues hope to have their goaltender, Manny Legace, back in action on Thursday.
Legace has missed the last four games with an injured right knee. But St. Louis assigned goaltender Marek Schwarz to the minors Wednesday, possibly making room for Legace's return.
The Blues have lost two straight overall but are 10-3-1 at home. St. Louis is coming off a 5-4 shootout loss to Edmonton on Tuesday, which snapped a six-game home winning streak.
