Senators shoot for fourth straight win

Dec 13, 2007 - 2:45 PM Ottawa (19-7-3) at Pittsburgh (15-13-2) 7:30 pm EST

PITTSBURGH (Ticker) - The Ottawa Senators have rebounded from their recent swoon.

The Senators will look for their fourth straight win when they visit the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.

Ottawa started out the season 16-3-0 before enduring a seven-game losing streak. But after an impressive 6-0 win against Carolina on Wednesday the Senators are back on the winning track, having taken three straight while scoring at least four goals in each win.

Center Mike Fisher has tallied a goal in each of the three wins while top-scorer Daniel Alfredsson has points in six straight games - tallying three goals and eight assists during the stretch. Not to be left out, Dany Heatley had two goals and an assist on Wednesday and Jason Spezza added a goal and an assist.

One negative in the win - netminder Ray Emery left in the first period of the win with soreness in his right hip. Martin Gerber, who played poorly during the recent seven-game skid, finished off the shutout and will likely get the call against Pittsburgh.

The Penguins will be looking to recover from an embarrassing 8-2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday.

Pittsburgh top netminder Marc-Andre Fleury was not availible during the loss and is expected to be out up to two months after suffering an ankle injury last Thursday against Calgary.

Backup Dany Sabourin is likely to see the most playing time in the absence of Fleury. The 27-year-old is 6-5-1 with a 2.50 goals-against average this season.

Pittsburgh standout Sidney Crosby, who ranks second in the NHL with 42 points, has not scored a goal in the Penguins' last six games.
