Avalanche go for rare road win
Dec 13, 2007 - 3:03 PM Colorado (16-13-1) at Nashville (14-12-2) 8:00 pm ESTNASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) - The Colorado Avalanche have not won much away from home this season. They'll give it another try on Thursday when they visit the Nashville Predators.
The Avalanche surged to a 9-5 win against the St. Louis Blues on Sunday at home, but could not keep the offensive surge going at Columbus on Wednesday, falling 4-1.
While Colorado owns a 12-3-0 record at home - the second-best mark in the NHL - it is just 4-10-1 away from the Pepsi Center. Goals have been hard to come by on the road, as the team has tallied just 32 goals away while scoring 60 at home.
Milan Hejduk and Paul Stastny combined for 11 points in Sunday's win, but both were held scoreless against the Blue Jackets on Wednesday.
The Predators have lost three of their last four games while failing to score more than two goals in the losses. They suffered a 2-1 setback against Detroit on Monday despite a 32-save night from backup netminder Dan Ellis.
Nashville won the first meeting between the teams, 4-0, at home on October 4. Jason Arnott tallied two goals and an assist in the win and Chris Mason stopped 35 shots to earn the shutout.
