Auld, Bruins look to get back on winning track

BOSTON (Ticker) - Recently acquired goaltender Alex Auld suffered his first loss as a member of the Boston Bruins on Thursday. He'll look to get back on track when the Bruins host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday.

With offseason acquisition Manny Fernandez out of the picture following knee surgery and backup Tim Thomas down with a strained groin, Boston picked up Auld in a trade with Phoenix last week. The Ontario native won his first three games in goal for the Bruins, allowing five goals total.

Auld has the benefit of one of the NHL's better defenses in front of him. Boston has allowed 78 goals in 31 games, tied for third fewest in the Eastern Conference.

The Bruins offense failed to do much on Thursday as the team suffered a 3-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils.

The Blue Jackets are coming off a 4-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday, getting goals from four different players on just 16 shots.

Columbus' top scorer, Rick Nash has been held without a goal in the past three games and has just four points over the past eight games.
