Canadiens shoot for third straight win over Maple Leafs
Dec 15, 2007 - 3:10 PM Toronto (14-12-6) at Montreal (15-11-5) 7:00 pm ESTMONTREAL (Ticker) - Two teams separated by just one point in the Northeast Division standings meet on Saturday when the Toronto Maple Leafs visit the Montreal Canadiens.
The teams have split the first four of their eight meetings this season, with Montreal winning the last two.
The Canadiens are coming off a 4-1 victory over Philadelphia on Thursday as Mark Streit scored two goals and rookie goaltender Carey Price made 29 saves. The Maple Leafs are 5-1-0 in their last six games, including a 6-1 victory on Monday over Tampa Bay as Chad Kilger scored twice.
Saturday's game is the first of a seven-game road trip for Toronto, which is 7-6-1 on the road. Center Mats Sundin leads the Maple Leafs with 23 assists and 38 points and is tied with center Nik Antropov for the team lead in goals with 15.
Sundin has two goals and four assists against Montreal this season and Vera Toskala is 2-0 with a 2.57 goals-against average.
Right wing Alexei Kovalev leads the Canadiens with 26 points and has 13 goals - tied for the team lead with Chris Higgins. Kovalev has three goals and three assists against Toronto and Price is 2-0-0 with a 2.88 GAA.
