Senators go for fifth straight win

OTTAWA (Ticker) - The Ottawa Senators are back to their winning ways, thanks in large part to a high-powered offensive attack.

The Senators will look to keep the goals coming when they host the Atlanta Thrashers on Saturday.

Ottawa has won four games in a row while outscoring their opponents 19-7. Dany Heatley has four goals in the past two games and Jason Spezza has four in the past four.

Leading the Eastern Conference with 102 goals in 30 games, the Senators also own a stout defense that is tied for third in the conference with just 78 goals allowed.

Ray Emery and Martin Gerber have split time in net, and Gerber will likely get the call on Saturday after posting a 4-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.

Emery was forced to leave that game early due to a sore hip.

The Thrashers have been the opposite of the Senators this season, leading the Eastern Conference with 105 goals allowed while managing just 83 goals scored. They have converted just 16.2 percent of their power plays and killed off just 77.4 percent of penalties.

Atlanta has dropped three games in a row, getting shut out by the Toronto Maple Leafs, 4-0, on Friday.

Ottawa has taken both meetings with the Thrashers this season, winning 3-1 on October 10 and 6-4 on November 1.
