Maple Leafs look for better result against Hurricanes

RALEIGH, North Carolina (Ticker) - The Toronto Maple Leafs likely remember the last time they played the Carolina Hurricanes.

In Toronto on October 9, seven different players scored for Carolina in a 7-1 rout. Center Matt Cullen, left wing Cory Stillman and right wing Justin Williams each had a goal and two assists and the Hurricanes went 4-for-8 on the power play.

Toronto will be looking for a better showing when it visits the Hurricanes on Tuesday.

This will be the third of a seven-game road trip for Toronto, which dropped to 1-1-0 on the trip with a 4-1 loss at Montreal on Saturday.

It was tough loss in more ways than one - defensive anchor Bryan McCabe broke his left hand when he was checked into the boards by Andrei Kostitsyn in the third period and will be out up to two months.

Veteran center Mats Sundin continues to pace the Maple Leafs, 7-7-1 on the road, with team-high totals of 16 goals and 24 assists.

Carolina's 6-5 shootout victory at Philadelphia ended a three-game losing streak for the Southeast Division leaders. Rod Brind'Amour netted the winning goal in the shootout.
