Red-hot Zetterberg, Red Wings host lowly Kings

DETROIT (Ticker) - The Detroit Red Wings have been the best team in the NHL this season, but in order to keep rolling they will have to avoid overlooking one of the league's worst squads.

Henrik Zetterberg tries to lead the Red Wings to their third consecutive victory when they host the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday.

Zetterberg leads the club with 24 goals and 47 points this season. His success has helped propel Detroit to an NHL-best 24 wins and 51 points.

The Red Wings have not lost a game in regulation since November 22, going 9-0-2 over that stretch. They also have the league's best home record at 15-2-1.

The Kings have been going in the opposite direction, dropping four straight and 14 of their previous 18 games. Not surprisingly, Los Angeles owns the Western Conference's worst road record at 4-9-1.

While the Kings offense has played well, with the trio of Anze Kopitar, Dustin Brown and Michael Cammalleri combining for 44 of the team's 93 goals, Los Angeles has allowed a conference-worst 113 tallies.

Bad news, considering the Red Wings lead the NHL with 116 goals.
