Flames go for seventh straight win

CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) -- Jarome Iginla is the hottest player in the NHL, and he's leading the league's hottest team.

Iginla and the Calgary Flames will be looking for their seventh straight win when they host the Dallas Stars on Friday.

The Flames' captain has scored at least one goal in five straight contests, totaling eight goals during that span. The offensive surge has Iginla in third place in the NHL in scoring with 49 points, while he is now tied for third in goals with 24.

Calgary beat the Columbus Blue Jackets, 3-1, on Tuesday with Iginla scoring the first goal and Miikka Kiprusoff making 36 saves.

The Stars had a four-game winning streak snapped with a 3-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday.

Dallas' top line of center Mike Ribeiro, left wing Brenden Morrow and right wing Antii Miettenen had combined to score nine goals during the winning streak, which has lifted the Stars into first place in the Pacific Division for the first time this season.

Iginla scored a goal in Calgary's 3-2 overtime victory against the Stars on October 12.
