Alfredsson, Senators look to stop skid vs. Rangers

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Daniel Alfredsson will try to help the Ottawa Senators avoid their third straight loss and in the process pick up their fifth consecutive victory at Madison Square Garden when they visit the New York Rangers on Sunday night.

This will be the teams fourth and final meeting of the season. The Rangers won the most recent matchup between the clubs, 5-2 on December 1, but the Senators defeated them twice during October.

New York has not had much success since besting Ottawa just over three weeks ago, going just 2-5-2 over its last nine games.

Despite the recent struggles, the Rangers remain in second place in the Atlantic Division just three points behind the New Jersey Devils.

The Senators have followed their six-game winning streak with back-to-back losses to the Atlanta Thrashers and Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.

Alfredsson, who leads the club with 20 goals and 45 points this season, had his 10-game point streak snapped in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Blackhawks.
