Canucks visit Avalanche in Northwest battle

DENVER (Ticker) -- The Colorado Avalanche will look to continue their winning ways and slow down the Vancouver Canucks when the two teams meet on Sunday.

Colorado is 6-1-1 in its last eight games but is still two points behind Vancouver - which has won three straight - in the Northwest Division.

The Avalanche are on a four-game home winning streak, including a 4-3 overtime victory against the New York Rangers on Friday.

Milan Hejduk scored two goals in Friday's victory to bring his total to 15 and tie him for the team lead with Paul Stastny. Stastny leads the team with 28 assists and 43 points.

Vancouver is coming off a 2-1 shootout victory against the Phoenix Coyotes on Saturday. Henrik Sedin had his team-leading 29th assist in the contest and has recorded a point in five straight games. Twin brother Daniel Sedin scored in the game, for his team-leading 15th of the season.

Goaltender Roberto Luongo has allowed two goals or less in nine straight games and has been in net in all three wins for the Canucks.

The Canucks are 2-0 against the Avalanche this season, winning one on the road and the other at home in early November.
