Lecavalier can extend goal-scoring streak vs. Flyers

Nov 2, 2006 - 2:15 PM Tampa Bay (5-7-0) at Philadelphia (3-7-1) 7:00 pm EST

PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) - Although the Tampa Bay Lightning have hit a rough spot, they are getting consistent production from Vincent Lecavalier.

The franchise leader with 188 goals, Lecavalier looks to score in his sixth consecutive contest when the Lightning try to snap a three-game losing streak Thursday against the Philadelphia Flyers.

The league's top pick in the 1998 draft, the 26-year-old Lecavalier produced a career-best 35 goals for Tampa Bay last season. He has one tally in each of his last five contests and is tied with Martin St. Louis for the team lead with seven.

Lecavalier gave Tampa Bay a one-goal edge in the second period and Brad Richards registered his second tally of the campaign for the Lightning in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Philadelphia has won two of its last three games for new coach John Stevens after dropping seven of its first eight for Ken Hitchcock, who accepted a scouting position with the team Wednesday just 10 days after being fired as coach.

Peter Forsberg scored twice and Robert Eche made 26 saves in his 10th career shutout for the Flyers in Monday's 3-0 triumph over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Ryan Craig scored his fifth goal of the season, Ruslan Fedotenko added his third and Lecavalier had a pair of assists for Tampa Bay in a 4-1 win over the Flyers in their last meeting on October 19.
