Thrashers look to continue home dominance against Panthers

ATLANTA (Ticker) - The Atlanta Thrashers look to continue their home dominance against the Florida Panthers when the teams face off on Thursday.

The Thrashers have won 11 straight games against the Panthers at Philips Arena with their last loss coming on October 25, 2003.

Ilya Kovalchuk found the back of the net just 25 seconds into the extra session to lift Atlanta to a 3-2 overtime win during its last meeting against Florida on November 13. Kovalchuk has logged three goals and two assists in two games against the Panthers this season.

Kovalchuk is putting together perhaps the best season of his career - the 24-year-old left wing leads the NHL with 29 goals and is fifth in the league with 47 points.

The Thrashers are looking to get back on track Thursday after having a four-game win streak snapped on Wednesday with a 2-0 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets. In the defeat, Kovalchuk failed to register a tally for just the second time in his last six contests.

The Panthers were on a three-game win streak until a 2-1 overtime setback to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.

Olli Jokinen extended his consecutive point streak to five games during the loss, notching his team-high 19th goal. The Panthers' captain has three goals and three assists over the streak.
