Blue Jackets, Hurricanes looking for consistency

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) - The Carolina Hurricanes and Columbus Blue Jackets have each alternated wins and losses in their last four games.

The Blue Jackets host the Hurricanes on Saturday with both teams searching for some degree of consistency.

Carolina, which leads the Southeast Division, extended Boston's losing streak to five games Friday with a 4-3 decision. It was the first time that the Hurricanes had won consecutive home games since early November.

Columbus, sitting in fourth place in the Central Division, is coming off a 4-3 loss on Thursday at Nashville.

Kris Beech and David Vyborny had power play goals for the Blue Jackets, and Jiri Novotny also scored for Columbus. It was Nashville's 12th consecutive victory over its division rival.

Saturday's game is the only meeting of the season between the two teams, which did not face each other last year. The Blue Jackets have just two wins in eight all-time meetings with Carolina.
