Injury-plagued Red Wings host rival Stars

DETROIT (Ticker) - Not having Henrik Zetterberg and Tomas Holmstrom in the lineup may be starting to catch up with the Detroit Red Wings.

With two of their top scorers nursing injuries, the Red Wings try to bounce back from getting shutout when they host the Dallas Stars on Wednesday.

After winning four straight games without Zetterberg and Holmstrom, Detroit was blanked, 2-0, by the St. Louis Blues and former teammate Manny Legace on Monday.

The Red Wings will hope Zetterberg, who leads the club with 25 goals and 50 points, recovers from his back spasms in time for Wednesday's contest. Holmstrom, who has been playing on a line with Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk, will be out at least two more weeks with a knee injury.

The Stars are hoping to bounce back from a 1-0 shutout at the hands of rookie goaltender Dan Ellis and the Nashville Predators on Monday.

Seven-year veteran Mike Ribeiro is having a career year for the Stars, leading the club with 21 goals and 43 points this season.

The Stars hope to start the new year similar to how they ended 2007, going 10-4-0 in December and ascending to the top of the Pacific Division.
