Hurricanes visit slumping Blues in rare matchup

ST. LOUIS (Ticker) - After finishing a home-and-home series with Atlanta on Friday, the Carolina Hurricanes will face an unfamiliar opponent on Saturday.

Carolina faces the St. Louis Blues for just the third time in four years when they visit the Scottrade Center on Saturday.

The two teams did not face each other last season and Carolina won the only matchup in both 2005-06 and 2003-04. The Hurricanes have not played the Blues in St. Louis since a 2-1 overtime loss on October 15, 2002.

The Hurricanes snapped a three-game losing streak with a 4-3 victory over Atlanta on Friday. Carolina scored three unanswered goals capped by Corey Stillman's game-winner with 3:23 remaining in its fourth meeting with the Thrashers this season.

The Blues are coming off a 3-2 overtime loss to Edmonton on Thursday and have just three wins in their last 12 contests.

Paul Kariya has 23 assists and 34 points to lead St. Louis in this his first year with the team, while Brad Boyes leads the club with 21 goals.

The matchup also features St. Louis' league-worst power play against the NHL's worst penalty killing unit.
