Legace looks to continue impressive shutout streak

ST. LOUIS (Ticker) - It's been over 143 minutes since the opposition has been able to get the puck past Manny Legace.

The 34-year-old netminder will hope to continue his impressive shutout streak when the St. Louis Blues host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night in a Central Division matchup.

Legace made 27 saves to record his second shutout of the week Saturday as the Blues defeated the Carolina Hurricanes, 1-0. His third shutout of the season and 21st career came just a few day after stopping all 31 shots in a 2-0 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Monday.

The eight-year veteran is 15-10-2 with a 2.09 goals-against average and .921 save percentage this season. Legace has also had a lot of success against the BLue Jackets in his career, posting a 14-4-1 record with two shutouts against the division rival.

For the streak to continue, Legace will have to stop one of the NHL's best goal scorers. Rick Nash, who leads Columbus with 21 tallies and 36 points, has no goals with just one assist over the past three games.

After being held without a goal for nine consecutive games, Sergei Fedorov has tallied in each of the last two games. The 38-year-old Russian has eight goals and 14 assists this season.

This contest wraps up a four-game road trip for the Blue Jackets. They will host the Blues on Friday.
