Modano, Stars set for meeting with Blues

ST. LOUIS (Ticker) - Mike Modano will try to lead the Dallas Stars to their third straight win when they visit the St. Louis Blues on the second stop of a five-game road trip Thursday.

Modano had three assists Wednesday as the Stars were victorious on their first stop, besting the Chicago Blackhawks, 3-1. The 37-year-old center has 12 goals and 17 assists this season.

Modano also tallied the game-winning goal in the only meeting between the two clubs this season - a 5-4 victory for Dallas on December 29.

Mike Ribeiro, who recently signed a five-year contract extension, leads the club with 21 goals and 46 points, but the 27-year-old has not scored a goal in the past six games.

The Blues also are looking for their third straight win after a series of excellent performances by Manny Legace.

After two consecutive shutouts and 186 minutes and 15 seconds without giving up a goal, Legace finally surrendered a goal in the third period of Tuesday's 6-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

His shutout streak broke St. Louis' franchise record of 184:47 set by Greg Millen from November 29-December 8, 1988.
