Bryzgalov, Coyotes look for more road success

EDMONTON, Alberta (Ticker) - Ilya Bryzgalov will look to continue his stellar play as the Phoenix Coyotes visit the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday.

Claimed off waivers on November 17, Bryzgalov has solved Phoenix's goaltending woes by going 13-8-1 with a 2.15 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage since.

Phoenix has won six straight road games and Bryzgalov has been in net for five of those games, posting a 1.58 GAA in that span.

Prior to the addition of the 27-year-old Russian, Phoenix netminders had combined for the fifth-worst save-percentage (.888) in the league.

Bryzgalov stopped 30 shots and the Coyotes scored three second period goals en route to a 3-1 over Calgary on Tuesday.

The Oilers also boast a goaltender on a hot streak. Mathieu Garon stopped 35 shots to record his third shutout of the season in a 4-0 win over the New York Islanders on Monday.

Garon also opened Edmonton's five-game homestand by stopping 29 shots in a 3-2 shootout win over the New York Rangers on Saturday.
