Slumping Thrashers look to regroup against Capitals
Nov 3, 2006 - 3:16 PM Atlanta (8-3-3) at Washington (4-3-4) 7:00 pm ESTWASHINGTON (Ticker) - The Atlanta Thrashers look to snap out of their recent funk when they take on the Washington Capitals on Friday.
The Thrashers opened with seven wins in their first nine games but have gone only 1-2-2 in their last five.
Atlanta has lost two straight games, including a 5-2 setback to the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday.
Marian Hossa scored his 11th goal and Vitaly Vishnevski also tallied for the Thrashers, who went 1-for-10 on the power play.
The Capitals return home after a 2-1-1 West Coast trip. Washington ended the trek on a positive note with a 4-2 triumph over the Calgary Flames on Monday.
Richard Zednik led the Capitals with two goals and an assist, while Dainius Zubrus also netted a pair of goals. Zubrus, who had 23 goals in 71 games last season, already has seven in 11 games this campaign.
