Streaking Stars take on struggling Oilers

Nov 3, 2006 - 3:22 PM Dallas (10-2-0) at Edmonton (7-5-0) 9:30 pm EST

EDMONTON, Alberta (Ticker) - Off the best start in franchise history, the Dallas Stars hope to keep rolling when they take on the slumping Edmonton Oilers on Friday.

The Stars have won 10 of their first 12 games, besting their 9-2-1 starts in 1996-97 and 1982-83.

Eric Lindros, whom the Stars took a chance on by signing as a free agent over the summer, scored two goals and Mike Modano had a goal and an assist in a 4-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday.

Marty Turco made 23 saves for the Stars, who went 1-for-7 on the power play.

The Oilers try to rebound after becoming the Nashville Predators' latest victim on Wednesday, 5-3.

Marc-Andre Bergeron, Ales Hemsky and Ryan Smyth scored for the Oilers, who have lost three of their last four games. Dwayne Roloson made 27 saves for Edmonton, which went 0-for-3 with the extra skater.
