Senators set to battle Islanders without Heatley

OTTAWA (Ticker) -- Through the first half of the season, the Ottawa Senators have been one of the best teams in the NHL. But now they will have to continue their success without one of their best players.

The Senators will seek their fifth consecutive victory Sunday, but will be without Dany Heatley when they host the New York Islanders.

The All-Star left wing left Saturday's 3-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings in the third period with a right shoulder injury. The 26-year-old Heatley was hurt when he collided with Detroit's Dallas Drake while trying to gain possession of the puck.

According to TSN of Canada on Saturday, Heatley suffered a separated shoulder and is expected to miss four to six weeks. Heatley has 25 goals and 31 assists in 43 games this season.

Heatley was part of the Senators' top line made up of fellow All-Stars Daniel Alfredsson and Jason Spezza, who have combined for 68 goals and 99 assists this season.

The Islanders are coming off their first win since goaltender Rick DiPietro returned from his knee injury, besting the Calgary Flames, 5-4, in a shootout Friday.

New York lost its previous four contests.

Mike Comrie leads the club with 20 assists and 33 points this season.
