Gaborik looks to keep momentum going vs. Coyotes

ST. PAUL, Minnesota (Ticker) -- It's been an up-and-down week for Marian Gaborik.

The 25-year-old right wing looks to lead the Minnesota Wild to their third straight win when they host the Phoenix Coyotes on Sunday.

After being called out by coach Jacques Lemaire for not working hard enough earlier in the week and voicing displeasure over his lack of playing time, Gaborik experienced a reversal of fortune when he was selected to the Western Conference All-Star team for the second time in his career.

In two games since, Gaborik has made the difference for the Wild.

After notching the decisive shootout goal in a 6-5 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday, the Slovakian superstar scored two goals and sparked a three-goal rally in the second period as the Wild skated to a 5-2 triumph at Chicago on Friday.

Phoenix, which struggled to start the campaign, is starting a turnaround behind goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov. The 27-year-old Russian is 13-9-1 with a 2.28 goals-against average and a shutout after being claimed off waivers from the Anaheim Ducks earlier in the season.

The Coyotes have won six of their last seven contests but remain in fourth place in the Pacific Division with 47 points.
