Capitals go for fourth straight win over Senators

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The Washington Capitals are far from the best team in the Eastern Conference. But they have had little trouble beating the club with the conference's best record this season.

Alex Ovechkin looks to lead the Capitals to a season series sweep of the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night when the teams meet at the Verizon Center.

The 22-year-old Ovechkin has been a major reason for Washington's success against the conference foe, notching five goals and nine points in three meeting this season. The Russian has nine tallies and nine assists in 11 career games against Ottawa.

In their most recent meeting, Mike Green scored two goals and set up another and Ovechkin added two assists as the Capitals skated to a 6-3 triumph on January 1.

The Senators will be without All-Star Dany Heatley, who suffered a separated shoulder in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings and will be out for four to six weeks.

Ottawa, however, will have All-Star Jason Spezza in the lineup. Spezza left Sunday's game against the New York Islanders in the first period after receiving a hit from defenseman Freddy Meyer.

The only member of the Senators' talented top line completely healthy is leading scorer Daniel Alfredsson, who has 29 goals and 59 points this season.
