Ovechkin, Capitals look to keep rolling vs. Panthers

WASHINGTON (Ticker) - Since being selected to his second consecutive All-Star Game, Alex Ovechkin has been unstoppable.

Ovechkin will hope to continue his three-game goal scoring streak as the Capitals seek their third straight victory when they host the Florida Panthers on Saturday night.

The 22-year-old Russian, who leads the club with 35 tallies, had a goal and an assist in Thursday's 5-4 shootout triumph over the Edmonton Oilers. Ovechkin has nine goals and 14 points over the last eight games.

Alexander Semin and defenseman Mike Green also have goals in each of the previous three games.

The Panthers snapped a three-game losing streak Friday, besting the New Jersey Devils, 2-1. Radek Dvorek and David Booth both scored in the third period to lead Florida to the comeback victory.

With the win, Jacques Lemaire became the 10th coach in NHL history to reach the 500-win milestone.

"I have been fortunate to work in this league," said Martin, who began his coaching career in 1986-87 with St. Louis and led Ottawa from 1995-2004 before joining Florida after the lockout. "I have had some great players to coach."
