Brodeur, Devils look to avoid third straight loss

NEWARK, New Jersey (Ticker) - The New Jersey Devils try to avoid a third straight loss Sunday when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs.

New Jersey has not lost three straight since a four-game slide from October 18-27.

Martin Brodeur has been a major factor in the Devils' success, posting a 24-15-2 record with a 2.10 goals-against average and four shutouts. The three-time Vezina winner has been on the wrong side of low offense production the past two contests, though, as New Jersey has managed just two goals.

Captain Mats Sundin has assists in each of the last four games, leading the Maple Leafs to three straight wins, one shy of matching a season high set from November 29-December 6.

The 36-year-old Sundin leads the Maple Leafs with 20 goals and 52 points. However, he has failed to score a goal in six straight games.
