Sabres look to keep rolling against rival Maple Leafs
Nov 4, 2006 - 4:16 PM Toronto (7-5-3) at Buffalo (11-0-1) 7:00 pm ESTBUFFALO, New York (Ticker) -- The Buffalo Sabres keep on ticking, and look to put more space between themselves and the Toronto Maple Leafs when the clubs meet on Saturday.
Buffalo leads Toronto by six points in the Northeast Division, and comes off perhaps its most impressive victory of the season.
The Sabres trailed the Boston Bruins, 4-1, in the third period but rallied to tie the game. Maxim Afinogenov scored twice in the third and Ales Kotalik tied the game at 18:25. Daniel Briere and Kotalik scored in the shootout to give the Sabres the victory.
Toronto, which finishes a three-game road trip against the Sabres, will try and rebound from a 4-2 loss to the Florida Panthers on Thursday.
The Leafs trailed, 3-0, but got back in the game on goals from Bryan McCabe and Mats Sundin. Defenseman Tomas Kaberle assisted on both tallies.
Toronto was outshot, 43-25, and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
Buffalo, who absorbed its lone setback with a 5-4 shootout loss vs. Atlanta last Saturday, has not lost in regulation in 17 games dating back to last season.
